Murray Growing As National Coal Player

ST. CLAIRSVILLE – Once the $3.5 billion deal to acquire five Consol Energy mines in West Virginia is complete, likely by the end of this year, Murray Energy will join Peabody Energy, Arch Coal, Alpha Natural Resources and Cloud Peak Energy as one of the top five coal producers in the nation, according to coal production figures from the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

Harrison Hub ‘Turns the Valves’

SCIO The Harrison Hub hosted a “Turn the Valves” ceremonial opening Monday afternoon, attended by Ohio?Gov. John Kasich, State Sen. Lou Gentile, various Harrison, Columbiana, and Carroll county elected officials, and leaders of Utica East Ohio Buckeye.

UEO is a combination of three companies: Access Midstream, M3 Midstream, and EV Energy Partners. The Harrison Hub facility is Ohio’s first integrated natural gas processing and fractionation complex serving producers operating in the Utica Shale. The plant processes 45,000 barrels per day and also has significant space for storage and a rail transportation system. Fractionation is a process different from fracking, meaning the Harrison Hub serves as a distillery for product that comes from a cryogenic processing plant near Kensington.

$1.7 million Grant Awarded

Nelsonville, Ohio — Economic development in Appalachian Ohio got a boost in the form of a $1.7 million Make it in America Challenge grant announced yesterday (October 22, 2013). One of only 10 awards made, the monies will be invested in incumbent worker training for the region’s metal fabrication, polymers and chemicals industries, and in the creation of an online inventory of regional facilities and land available for new or expanding industry development.
